My old drip machine versus the pour over I started using this winter

I used to just push a button on my cheap machine every morning, but after a friend in Portland showed me his setup, I tried a simple pour over with a gooseneck kettle. Now I can't go back to that old bitter taste, even though it takes more time. Has anyone else switched methods and felt like they were drinking a different drink?

Totally get that, it's a night and day difference. I switched to a French press a few years back and it ruined diner coffee for me forever. The extra minute in the morning is totally worth it.

Ever try going back to a regular drip machine after the French press? I did once and it tasted like brown water. Makes you wonder what they're actually serving at those diners, like is it just super old beans or a bad brew setup? Kinda ruins the whole cheap breakfast vibe when the coffee's that bad.
