Just had a close call with my grinder at the local cafe meetup

I was at the monthly meetup at The Daily Grind in Springfield, showing off my new hand grinder. I left it on the edge of the table for maybe two minutes while I grabbed a cup. When I turned back, someone had bumped the table and it was about an inch from falling onto the tile floor. I mean, that would have been a $150 mistake right there. Now I'm paranoid about where I put my gear in busy spots. Does anyone else have a rule for where to set stuff down at these things?

My backpack's side pocket is my gear's safe zone.

My buddy had his new scale on a cafe table last year. Someone's dog leash got tangled on a chair leg, yanked the whole table, and sent it flying. He caught it mid-air like a movie scene, but now he won't put anything down unless it's on a chair seat pushed all the way in.
