I skipped learning loops for 3 months and it cost me an entire weekend on a simple game
When I started learning Python back in January, I kept telling myself I could just copy the same block of code over and over instead of learning while loops and for loops, and it worked fine for tiny scripts. Last weekend I tried to build a number guessing game and ended up with 40 copy pasted lines that broke every time I changed one number. Did anyone else dodge functions or loops at first, and what finally made it click for you?
Remember when everyone said you'd use math class stuff in real life and you never did? For me it was the opposite with guitar. I spent like two months just learning chords and refusing to touch scales because they seemed boring and pointless, then I hit a wall where every solo I tried sounded like garbage. Learning scales was basically the loops of guitar. You can fake it for a while but the second things get even a little complex, the copy paste method falls apart.
