Caught a 30-year machinist saying he never uses coolant for aluminum and it blew my mind

He said the heat helps chip control and I tried it on a batch of 50 brackets last week, cuts came out cleaner with zero cleanup, has anyone else run dry on softer metals?

Aluminum gums up tools wet but chips right off dry, try it once and you get it.

Isn't it funny how sometimes the "wrong" way turns out to be the right way for a specific job? Feels like life is full of those little exceptions.
