My city council meeting turned into a shouting match over a new bike lane
I was at the Springfield city council meeting last month when they proposed cutting the new protected bike lane project to save $250,000. A guy next to me yelled that climate action was too expensive. I stood up and showed them my spreadsheet proving the lane would take 50 cars off the road daily, based on data from a similar project in Portland. They voted to keep the funding. Has anyone else had to fight for a local project with hard numbers?

My cousin's spreadsheet saved our library, unlike kelly338's neighbor and his truck picture.

Watched my neighbor try to stop a speed bump on our street by saying it would hurt his truck's suspension. He brought a picture of his lowered pickup as proof. I just pulled up the town's own crash stats for that corner and read them out loud. They poured the concrete the next week.
