Just found out the average person owns 7 chipped mugs, not 2
Was reading some blog post last night and it said the average household has 7 mugs with chips or cracks in them. I've got 4 in my cabinet right now. That seems high to me but maybe I'm just throwing mine out too early? My favorite one has a chip from when my kid dropped it in 2019 and I can't let it go. What's your number, are you a hoarder or a tosser?

You ever hear that story about the Japanese art of kintsugi where they fix broken pottery with gold? I read that somewhere and it made me feel better about keeping my chipped mugs. I'm at six right now, mostly because they hold the perfect amount of coffee and I don't want to break in a new one.

Nah, I gotta disagree. Chipped mugs bother me. That rough edge against your lip. Ruins the whole experience.
Plus that glaze is cracked. Means bacteria can get in there. I tossed my last chipped one after I saw some dark stuff in the crack. Not worth it.
I get the sentimental thing. But six? Just buy a new set. They're like twelve bucks at Target.
