Shoutout to my 500th chimney sweep job this week

I was going through my old logs Wednesday night and noticed I hit 500 sweeps since I started keeping track back in 2019. Didnt even realize it until I counted up the numbers. That is a lot of creosote and bird nests over the years. Funny part is my 500th was a routine gas insert cleanout, nothing special. Anyone else ever hit a random milestone like this that snuck up on you?

Wait hold on, you hit 500 chimney sweeps since 2019 and did not even notice until you counted up? That is wild to me. @the_sean is right though, those big milestones always sneak up on you during the most boring jobs. I remember I hit a personal best for miles hiked last year and it happened on a short little walk to the mailbox, not on some big mountain. It is crazy how the small stuff adds up over time without you realizing it. You must have a good system going to track that many jobs without missing any. Keep at it and 600 will probably creep up on you before you know it.

That "routine gas insert cleanout" is exactly how most big milestones go, totally unglamorous. I'd suggest taking a photo of your log book or tracking sheet on those round numbers, it helps you look back and see how far you've come. Keep your notes consistent too, you'll be surprised how fast that 600th sneaks up on you.
