Pro tip: never skip the camera on a first clean, especially in old houses
I mean, I learned that the hard way last Tuesday at a 1920s place in Oak Park. The homeowner said it was 'just a little drafty,' but the scope showed a full nest and a cracked flue tile about 8 feet up. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I think a visual check is basic, even if the quote seems high. What's the weirdest thing you've found with a camera that the customer had no clue about?

Oh man, you are so right. Had a call for a "slow drain" in a basement laundry sink last month. The homeowner was sure it was just hair. Sent the camera down and found a section of the old cast iron pipe was almost totally crushed by a tree root, but it was like ten feet out from the house under the patio. They had zero idea. The camera basically saved us from a way bigger dig later.

That camera pays for itself on jobs like that. Found a crushed clay line under a driveway once, same deal.
