Warning: I stopped stretching carpet by hand on stairs, 3 years of callbacks proved me wrong
For years I was dead set against using a power stretcher on stair work. I figured a good knee kick and some muscle was all a real installer needed, and I said so to plenty of guys around here. Three years back I did a full flight in a house out in Beaverton and by spring the riser edges were showing gaps on two of the steps. Customers called, I went back twice, and I finally switched to a mini stretcher with a stair head on every job since. That was 40 plus flights ago and zero callbacks, so I'll admit I was wrong. Anybody else get stubborn about a tool and pay for it later?
