Vent: A simple jamb extension took me 6 hours in Austin

I thought I could knock out a custom jamb extension for a 100-year-old wall in about 2 hours, but the plaster was so out of true that I ended up ripping and test-fitting 14 pieces before it sat right. Has anyone else had a 'quick' trim job turn into a full day just because of old house settling?
