Hit 50 job offers in one month and it made me rethink everything

I run a moving company in Austin. Last March we got 50 calls for moves in a single month. That was double our normal. I thought it was a fluke but it kept going. On one side I was stoked because more money. On the other side I had to turn down half those jobs because we just didn't have the crews. Made me wonder if I should expand fast or stay small and reliable. What would you do if you hit a milestone that forced you to pick growth over quality?

Yeah I'd probably just hire my cousin and hope for the best, which is a terrible plan.

Back in 2019 I ran into something similar with my appliance repair shop in Phoenix. We got 62 calls in a single week during the summer heat wave when everyone's AC units were dying. I had to turn away at least 15 of those people because I only had two techs and one van. I tried hiring fast and it backfired hard, the new guy didn't know what he was doing and we got three bad reviews in a month. So I stuck with being small and reliable, even turned down more work later that year. Your mileage may vary but for me keeping that quality high was way better than chasing every dollar that came through the door.
