Moved my fort building into the garage after a rainstorm ruined my best tower

I had this three story fortress going in the backyard last summer, but a sudden downpour turned it into soggy mush in about 20 minutes. Now I only build in the garage with a tarp down, and I have to watch for spiders crawling in through the boxes. Anyone else switch to an indoor spot after losing a fort to weather?

Did you ever try putting a tarp over your fort before the rain hit? I had the same problem where my couch cushion castle got wrecked, so now I build in the basement near the workshop (way less creepy crawlies than a garage). The key for me was sweeping the floor first to get rid of any dirt or bugs, then laying down an old bedsheet as a base. Keeps things clean and makes it easier to rebuild when someone inevitably bumps into it.
