My buddy's faith in that fancy camp stove led to a cold dinner disaster
Everyone loves those compact camp stoves, but when ours failed during a group trip, we ended up eating cold beans. It was pretty awkward trying to explain why we didn't have a backup.

That social pressure when it fails in front of everyone is the worst part. Cold beans taste even worse with an audience.

Cold beans are bad enough without people watching, derekd47 nailed that. Test your stuff before you go, every single time. I bring a tiny backup stove now, never get caught like that again.

It's the same with any small failure in public. The embarrassment makes the problem feel ten times bigger. We're all just trying to avoid being the person with the cold beans.
