Used to rebuild shutters with tweezers and a prayer, now I use a proper shutter timing tool
Spent 3 hours last week fighting a sticky Copal shutter on a vintage Rolleiflex before I caved and ordered a $60 timing kit from KEH. Has anyone else found their repair speeds doubled since getting one of these?

Not convinced a tool saves that much time if you still have to clean everything twice anyway.

Oh man, did you have to buy a whole new timing tool or did you manage to find one used? I went through the exact same struggle with an old Compur shutter on a Linhof I picked up at a garage sale. I was using a stopwatch on my phone and tweezers and it took me probably 4 hours just to get the 1/125 speed close to right. Once I finally broke down and got a shutter timing tool from a guy on eBay, my repair times literally dropped in half, maybe even more. It's such a game changer because you can actually see what's happening instead of guessing. I still end up spending a lot of time cleaning old oil and gunk out, but at least now I'm not resetting the same speed fifteen times in a row.
