Old timer told me to stop using canned air on shutters, I didn't listen

Guy named Frank at a shop in Portland told me canned air can blow grease into the shutter blades and mess up timing. I figured he was just old school and kept using it for dust. Three weeks later I had a Pentax Spotmatic with oily blades that wouldn't close right. Took me 2 hours to clean it out with lighter fluid. Anyone else learn the hard way that Frank was right?

Calling total BS on that... cleaned my shutters with canned air for years with zero issues.

What kind of shutters are we talking about here... because I've seen some cheap plastic ones that cracked from the cold air? Canned air can leave behind moisture if you tilt the can wrong, which would totally wreck the finish over time. You ever check for any fine cracks or residue after a cleaning session?
