Heard a repair shop owner say something that stuck with me
I was at a camera swap meet last Saturday and overheard this older guy telling someone that 'most gear dies from storage, not use'. He said he sees way more broken shutters from cameras sitting in damp basements for 5 years than from heavy shooting. Do you guys find that most of your repairs come from people pulling old gear out of closets rather than from active use?

That repair shop guy nailed it. Mold and corrosion from sitting do way more damage than normal wear and tear from shooting.

Totally agree with you @the_jana. I left my rifle in a damp case for a few months and the rust was way worse than any wear I've seen from range time. That stuff gets into every little crack.
