Unpopular opinion: My shop switched to recycled cardboard for template material

It sounds odd, but heavy duty cardboard from old boxes works great for full size templates. I flatten it out, cut shapes with a utility knife, and it holds up for several uses. This saves a ton of MDF or plywood from getting tossed after one job. Plus, it's free and keeps waste out of the dump.

That's actually genius. Started doing the same thing with old appliance boxes last year. Saves so much cash and it works just fine for rough layouts.

Wait, you mean just plain cardboard boxes? I used to think that sounded kinda silly but @parkertorres is totally right, it's actually really smart.
