Built a run of base cabinets for my garage in April using 1/2 inch Baltic birch instead of the 3/4 inch I always reach for, and they feel rock solid with a 3/4 inch face frame and a mid rail, but a buddy who builds kitchens in Columbus says I'm asking for sag on anything wider than 24 inches. Half of me thinks the weight savings and the $60 I saved per sheet is worth it, the other half keeps eyeing that middle shelf. Any of you run 1/2 inch boxes on purpose, or is that just asking for trouble?
