Had to choose between a full overlay and inset for a client's kitchen remodel in Tacoma. Went with inset and now I'm dealing with humidity gaps.

Gotta wonder if the gaps are even a real problem. Wood moves with the seasons everywhere, not just in Tacoma. Might just be a normal thing you're overthinking now.

Honestly, I had the same worry last winter. I just ran a dehumidifier in the basement and the gaps closed right up by summer. It really can be just the humidity changing.
