The cheap boning knife trick that saved my wrist last month

I been doing this for about 8 years now and my right wrist was starting to ache real bad after long shifts. Tried those expensive ergonomic handles and special grips but nothing helped. Then an old timer at my shop in Portland told me to just switch to a $12 kiwi brand boning knife from the Asian market. I laughed at first cause the handle looks so cheap and plastic. But man it's way lighter than my expensive Wusthof and the blade is thin enough that I don't have to push hard through connective tissue. After two weeks the pain in my wrist dropped by like 80 percent I swear. Anyone else found a super cheap tool that actually worked better for them?

Yeah I gotta agree with you on that. Picked up a kiwi for like ten bucks on a whim and now it's my go to for anything that needs cutting near bone. The thinness just glides through where my heavy knives would make me grind and push. My carpal tunnel actually got a little better after I made the switch.

Kiwi knives are a game changer honestly. I grabbed a 6 inch one for like 8 bucks and it feels like a toy but cuts through everything without any force. The lightness really helps with fatigue on those long prep days. I still reach for my Wusthof for heavy work sometimes but for boning this cheap thing is way better.
