Spent 8 months building a custom inventory tracker and my boss said just use Excel

At my warehouse in Portland, I built this whole inventory management system in Airtable (wasted like 60 hours of my own time) to track our 2,000+ SKUs because we kept losing shipments. Presented it to my boss last Thursday and he goes "why didn't you just keep using the spreadsheet?" then told me to scrap it. Has anyone else poured time into improving something only to get shut down by management who doesn't get the problem?

Man that's frustrating. People often fear what they already know.

Happens all the time with tech updates at my work too. People get comfortable with a clunky old system, then panic when you swap it for something smoother that actually works better. It's like they'd rather deal with the annoyances they know than learn one new button.
