I lost $300 on a fancy inventory system that was way too much for my small shop
I run a small craft supply store in Omaha and last fall I bought a new inventory software package. The sales rep made it sound perfect, saying it would track everything and save me hours. I paid $300 for the annual subscription. The problem was it was built for a warehouse, not a shop with maybe 500 items. It was so complicated I spent more time inputting data and watching training videos than I ever saved. After three months of frustration, I went back to my old spreadsheet method. I felt pretty silly for not checking if it was a good fit for a business my size first. Has anyone else bought a tool that was just too big and complex for what they actually needed?
