A client in Omaha once asked me why we kept paper files when his whole life was on his phone.
We were in our old back office, surrounded by those gray filing cabinets, and he just pointed at them and laughed. That was the push I needed to finally scan everything and move our whole system online, which took about three months. Has anyone else had a single comment from a customer totally shift how you run things?

Okay but like, sometimes a customer says something and it's just a random thought, not some big life changing advice. I mean, maybe the guy was just making a joke about the old filing cabinets. It feels like we're all supposed to have these huge "aha" moments from one comment, but idk, maybe it's just the push you were already looking for anyway.

My uncle's print shop in Toledo. A regular saw me fighting with a jammed copier and just said, "You know, they make printers that connect to wifi now." It was 2018. Felt like he'd just told me about the wheel. We were still using a fax machine for orders. That one sentence made me realize how far behind we'd let things get. Went digital that same year.
