Realized I was buying groceries all wrong after a $200 trip
Last month I went to the store and spent $200 on food that was gone in 5 days. That felt way off so I looked at my receipt and saw I bought mostly pre-made stuff and snacks. It hit me that I was basically paying for convenience instead of actual ingredients. Now I buy a big bag of rice, beans, and whatever veggies are on sale for the week. Has anyone else had a moment where their grocery spending just clicked differently?

...and my friend Sarah had THE EXACT same wake-up call last year. She was spending like $300 a week on those pre-made pasta kits and bagged salads because she thought cooking from scratch was too hard. One day she noticed her roommate was spending half that on real ingredients and eating way better food. Now she buys a whole chicken for like $8, roasts it, and uses the bones for broth. She told me it felt weird at first but now she actually enjoys making meals from scratch and her grocery bill dropped by like $100 a week easy.

Oh totally, your friend's story reminds me of what happened to my coworker Jenna. She was buying those fancy microwave rice pouches and single-serve guacamole cups like they were going out of style. Then her sister came to visit and made a huge pot of chili from dried beans and canned tomatoes for like 12 bucks, and Jenna was shook when she realized her sister had meals for a whole week. Now she bulk cooks on Sundays and actually looks forward to her leftovers, says it feels like she's beating the system or something. It's wild how much money you save when you stop paying for the convenience tax.
