PSA: My $30 grocery budget hack went bust after 2 weeks
So I was all proud of myself for meal prepping with a strict $30 weekly budget. Last Tuesday I ran out of rice and beans by day 11 and had to grab a $9 pizza from Dominos because I was starving after work. The whole plan fell apart because I didn't account for snacks or random cravings that hit mid-week. Anybody else get tripped up by not building a little slack into their budget for unexpected stuff?

Man, that pizza grab is SO real. I've been there where the budget plan is perfect on paper but then Wednesday hits and you're staring at the fridge like it owes you money. Here's my thing though: did you actually INCLUDE any kind of snack buffer or did you just think you could power through on pure rice and beans? Because I tried a $25 challenge once and I budgeted for ONE bag of chips and a chocolate bar per week, and that tiny slack saved me from the Dominos trap for three whole weeks before I caved on a burrito. What exactly did your original meal plan look like for those 11 days?

Oh man, "staring at the fridge like it owes you money" is exactly it. I felt that one in my bones honestly. And no, I totally didn't include any snack buffer, I thought I could just tough it out with eggs and oatmeal. That was my big mistake. I planned all these lentils and frozen veggie meals but nothing for that 3pm slump when you just want something salty. Your chip and chocolate trick is smart, I bet even just having one little treat on hand would have kept me from ordering takeout that one night.
