My $9 spreadsheet ended up replacing a $45 app I loved

Used to track every grocery trip in this fancy app with barcode scanning and all. Then it went subscription and I said no thanks. Built a simple Google Sheet with a dropdown for stores and a total column, takes me 4 minutes after shopping. Has anyone else ditched a paid tool for a free hack that somehow works better?
