PSA: I checked the average price of a hostel bed in Tokyo and it's way lower than I thought
Found a site that tracks global hostel costs, and a bed in Shinjuku can be under $25 a night. Has anyone found a cheaper major city for basic accommodation?

That's actually a huge relief to hear. Tokyo always seemed like this crazy expensive place you had to save up for forever. Finding a cheap spot right in Shinjuku changes the whole game for planning a trip. Makes it way more possible for people on a tight budget to actually go. I'm saving that site for later, no joke. Good looking out with the info.

Right, like my budget travel plans are ever that organized, @keith943. I'd probably just sleep in the truck cab if I was over there. But seriously, finding those cheap spots is a total game changer for actually making the trip happen.
