Just realized booking flights on Tuesday is a total myth...

My buddy swore up and down that if I bought tickets on a Tuesday afternoon I'd save like 40%. So I waited 3 weeks for a specific Tuesday to book a flight to Austin. Paid $280 round trip. My coworker booked the exact same flight on a Friday and got it for $245. So much for that advice... has anyone else had bad luck with those "best day to book" tips?

Yeah that Tuesday thing is overblown. I think the real trick is just booking like 6-8 weeks out and being flexible on times, not so much what day of the week you click buy.

Booking six to eight weeks out feels like a lot of planning for a random trip, not everyone has that kind of flexibility. Is saving a few bucks really worth locking yourself into a schedule that far ahead? Seems like people overthink this whole thing when you can just check prices once a week and grab a deal when it pops up.
