Compared cheap Amazon speakers to thrift store finds and the difference was huge

I spent $150 on a pair of those no-name Amazon speakers for my first setup and they sounded like tin cans. Then I picked up a pair of old Pioneer towers at a Salvation Army for $30 total. The bass is actually punchy and I don't get that ear fatigue after an hour of watching movies. Has anyone else had better luck hunting at thrift stores than buying new budget gear?

Bet your kids won't inherit those Amazon speakers.

Right, because my three year old is really gonna be heartbroken when he can't hook his vintage Alexa up to his hoverboard in 2040. My son's currently more concerned about whether his Paw Patrol bath toy is gonna survive another night in the tub. Pretty sure my Echo Dot has a better shot at outlasting those plastic fire trucks with missing wheels. But hey, maybe I should start a trust fund for my smart speaker's inevitable obsolescence.
