The price of a simple pot of beans really hit me when I looked at my grocery receipt from 2019.

My receipt from 2020 shows beans were 89 cents. That's barely up from 79 cents in 2019. People are focusing on the wrong items.

Beans are a bad example because they're often loss leaders. Check the price of meat, dairy, and bread from that same receipt. My ground beef doubled and a gallon of milk is up over a dollar. Staples people buy every week have seen the real jumps.
