Stopped buying pre-shredded cheese. Huge mistake for tacos.
Thought I'd save money by grating a block myself. Got a $4 bag of shredded cheddar on clearance instead. But it has that powdery coating stuff. Melted awful on my ground beef tacos. Anyone else find pre-shredded just ruins certain dishes?

Froze my block cheese first and it grated way easier plus melted perfectly on tacos.

Hey @cameron_palmer, did you actually thaw the cheese first or grate it frozen? I tried the frozen trick once and it turned into a crumbly mess on my tacos, but maybe I let it sit out too long.
