Hit 50,000 bricks laid this week and it hit me different

I've been keeping a tally in my notepad for the last 4 years, and I hit 50,000 bricks on a retaining wall job over by the old mill on Elm Street. I always thought I'd feel proud or something, but mostly I just felt tired and surprised at how the number added up so fast. What changed my mind was thinking about how many walls and chimneys that really is, like each one has a story behind it. Anyone else track their counts and get caught off guard when they add it up?

My buddy Phil hit 30,000 on a shed and just stared at his hands for ten minutes.

That’s awesome (and a little humbling, right?). @davis.emma, that story about your buddy Phil staring at his hands totally gets it - I hit 40,000 on a fireplace rebuild last spring and just sat on the tailgate of my truck for like ten minutes, not even mad, just kind of numb.
