Bought a cheap mortar mixer off a guy in Toledo for $200, it broke after two weeks and cost me a whole day's work.

Look at it from the seller's side, maybe he didn't know it was about to break. I mean for two hundred bucks you're getting a huge discount, so the risk is kind of built into that price. Can't really expect professional grade stuff at that point.
