I used to weigh everything with a measuring cup, now I finally use a scale
Back when I first started baking bread, like 7 or 8 years ago, I'd scoop flour straight out of the bag with a cup and level it off with a knife. I thought I was being precise, you know? But my loaves would come out dense or flat like half the time, no consistency at all. About 2 years ago I bought a $15 kitchen scale off Amazon and started weighing everything in grams, and my bread turned out way better on the first try. Has anyone else had that moment where they realized measuring cups were just lying to them?

I totally get what you mean about that moment when you realize measuring cups were just lying to you. My bread went from a total crapshoot to actually turning out how I wanted once I started weighing flour instead of scooping it. It's crazy how something so simple can make that big of a difference.

Yeah, that "crap shoot" part hit home for me too. Once I started weighing flour, I realized my bread was way too dry because I was packing it in without knowing. I use a cheap $15 scale from Amazon and just tare the bowl between ingredients. Makes adding water or salt way more consistent too, @sean_perry.
