Why do garden centers use those tiny pots that stunt growth immediately?
I repot everything as soon as I get home, but some plants never recover.

Oh totally, that's a great point about loosening the roots. I mean, if they're super pot-bound, I'll sometimes even rinse the old soil off with water to really free them up. It seems to help them settle into the new pot way faster.

For plants that never recover, in my experience, gently loosening the root ball first helps a lot.
