Visited the Denver Botanic Gardens and noticed their new alpine rock garden setup

They're using a specific crushed pumice mix for drainage that's way better than the gravel I've been using. It's from a local quarry called 'Frontier Stone'. Has anyone else switched to a pumice blend for their succulents?

Switched to a pumice mix last year and it's a total game changer. My echeverias stopped getting those soggy bottom leaves almost right away. I get mine from a garden center that bags it as "dry mix," but it's basically the same stuff, just super porous. The roots seem to love having all that air around them.

Totally agree. That airy mix saved so many of my plants from rot.
