I heard a guy at the nursery say pruning in autumn is always bad
He was real loud about it too, telling some new gardeners they'd kill their trees. But I've pruned my old maple in late October for 5 years straight and it's never had rot or dieback yet... anyone else have good luck with fall trimming?
Stands my ground with you on this one. I've been trimming my apple tree in October for years without any trouble, and it actually seems to help it bounce back quicker in spring.
