Shoutout to the cheap goat skin I found at a market in Austin

I grabbed a piece for a small journal cover, thinking it would be a bit stiff but fine. After paring it down to about 0.8mm, it turned out way more stretchy than any calf I've used. The spine warped a little during drying because I didn't account for that give. Learned that goat skin needs a different backing board pressure, maybe even a lighter glue. Anyone else run into this with thinner goat leather?

Always thought goat was just thin calf... @thomas_black81 has a point though.

Honestly that bit about goat skin being stretchy even when thin is so true. I tried making a simple card holder with some once and the whole shape just went wonky after a few weeks in my pocket. Tbh I stick to calf now for anything that needs to hold its shape, goat is just too unpredictable for me.
