My club keeps picking 500-page books and calling it "commitment"
Our club in Boise voted 6 to 2 last Tuesday to read another doorstop novel, and I was one of the two. The problem isn't long books. It's that people keep acting like page count equals depth, so we spend three meetings skimming and one meeting actually talking about the story. Last time we did this, half the group admitted they quit around page 200 but still voted on the ending like they finished it. Can we please agree on a page limit before the next vote, or am I the only one who thinks a 200-page book can hit just as hard?
