My book club spent 40 minutes arguing about a book 2 people finished, so we changed the rules
Back in January we tried picking books 6 weeks out and letting everyone vote on 12 options, which sounded fair but meant half the group showed up having read nothing and just nodded along to whoever talked loudest. Now we do a blind draw of 3 books at the end of each meeting and only people who finish get to vote on the next pick, which sounds harsh but our last discussion in the Denver group actually went somewhere for once. Is this too strict, or does every club eventually turn into a fight about who actually read the thing?
