Vent: I swore app timers were stupid until I lost a whole Saturday to my phone
I always rolled my eyes at app timers, figured I had enough self control to just put the phone down lol. Then two Saturdays ago I sat on my couch in Fresno from 9am to 2pm just scrolling and barely moved, missed my buddy's BBQ and everything. So I set a 30 minute limit on my worst apps that night and honestly the little popup callout is what does it, its annoying enough that I actually quit. I still check stuff on my laptop but at least my phone sits on the counter now. Anyone else notice the blocker works better when it bugs you instead of just locking the app?
My buddy had almost the exact same thing happen, except his was YouTube shorts and he didn't even notice 4 hours went by until his gf got home and asked why the dog hadn't been fed. He tried the timer thing too and said the popup is what got him, cause it makes you actually make a choice instead of just hitting ignore on a lock screen. The one that just blocks you flat out, he'd swipe it away and keep going. Something about having to physically tap "ignore limit" makes you feel like a loser lol.
