Heard my neighbor's kid say 'why would I need a landline' and it got me thinking about distraction

I was out watering my plants last Saturday (in the middle of a heatwave, ugh) when I overheard my neighbor's teenage son ask his mom why they even have a house phone. She said for emergencies. He said 'but my phone is always with me.' And I realized, I used to have whole afternoons where I'd just be unreachable if I was outside. Now I'm basically a slave to my own pocket computer. I tried putting my phone in a drawer for an hour yesterday and my hand kept twitching for it. Has anyone else noticed how much harder it is to block out noise when the distraction lives in your hand?

Try putting it in a different room for 15 minutes at first and see if that feels more doable? I started leaving mine in the kitchen at night and it helped me realize how much I grab it without thinking.
