Found out the average office worker gets interrupted every 11 minutes, so I tried blocking Slack for 2 hours
I read this stat from a University of California Irvine study that got shared in a work newsletter last week and it kind of blew my mind. So I set my Slack notifications to snooze from 9 to 11 every morning and put my phone in my desk drawer across the room. Got more done in those 2 hours than I usually do all day, honestly. Has anyone else tried blocking just one app during a set window and did it stick for you?
What made it stick for you though, was it the phone in the drawer or the Slack snooze? I ask because most people I know can quit one but not the other, and the phone is usually the harder one to give up. Curious if you had to fight the urge to check it those first few days or if it got easy fast.
