That one Tuesday where nothing went right at the forge
Spent 6 hours trying to forge a simple set of tongs and somehow ended up with a twisted mess that looked more like a pretzel than a tool. Has anyone else had a day where the steel just seemed to fight back no matter what you did?

That pretzel description is too real, my handle slipped and went flying across the shop once.

Man I have been there more times than I can count. One time I spent a whole afternoon trying to get a punch drift to hold its temper and it cracked on me three times in a row. By the end I was just staring at the anvil wondering if the steel had a personal grudge against me. It's like some days the metal just decides it's not going to cooperate and there's nothing you can do about it. Makes you feel like you forgot how to do the most basic stuff.
