The drizzly Tuesday that made me rethink my whole rain gear setup
Last week I rode through a 20 minute downpour on 5th Ave and still showed up to my shift with a dry shirt, the trick was a cheap poncho over my normal jacket instead of that expensive waterproof coat. Three years ago I would have been soaked and cranky for hours, but now I keep the poncho rolled up in my pannier for exactly these kind of mornings. Anyone else found that layering a $5 poncho beats any high tech gear when it actually rains hard?

Ponchos work great till real wind hits. Then you're fighting a flapping sail while trying to see through wet plastic.
