PSA: I finally started using a torque wrench on carbon seatposts after a customer's $400 frame cracked
That was two months ago, and I haven't had a single complaint about creaking or slipping since. Anyone have a favorite budget-friendly 5 Nm torque key they actually trust?

Tbh, the "just use more paste" idea is how we ended up with that cracked frame in the first place. Paste helps, but it's not a fix for a clamp that's already way too tight. A torque key stops you from going there. It's not about the number, it's about having a hard stop so your muscle memory doesn't wreck things.

Honestly, that seems like fixing the wrong problem. A torque wrench just puts a number on over tightening. Shouldn't the real focus be on using enough carbon paste instead?
