The time I grabbed the wrong bottle of bay rum at a competition in Nashville
I was at the Music City Barber Expo last spring, already nervous about my fade. Midway through my second head, I grabbed what I thought was my clipper spray but it was this super strong bay rum aftershave. The client jumped up coughing and the judge just stared at me. Ended up having to restart the whole haircut with ten minutes left. Has anyone else had a brain fart like that during a competition?

Oh man, that's brutal. I had a buddy from barber school who did something kinda similar at a local competition up in Portland. He was running short on time and grabbed the bay rum instead of his alcohol-free toner, doused the client's neck and everything. The poor guy started blinking and coughing like he got tear-gassed, and my buddy just froze there holding the bottle like a total goof. He said the judge didn't say a word, just gave him this long disappointed stare before walking off. He ended up finishing dead last after having to redo the whole back section. Made for a funny story at the next shop meeting though.
