Pro tip: let the hot towel sit a full 3 minutes before you start the shave

Had a guy come in last Tuesday who gets razor burn every time he shaves himself. Asked if he could just watch me do my thing on another customer. I let the towel sit a full 3 minutes on my guy and he said "that's it? I always rush that part." He tipped me $20 just for showing him. Ever had a customer learn just from watching?

Idk I guess I'm gonna be the one who says it but 3 minutes seems like overkill to me. I mean I've been shaving for like 15 years and I just wet my face with warm water from the sink for maybe 30 seconds tops. My barber actually told me once that a lot of the fancy prep stuff is just theater to make you feel like you're getting your money's worth. Maybe it's just me but I've never gotten razor burn bad enough to justify standing there with a towel on my face for that long. Like is that really the difference maker or is it more about having a sharp blade and not pressing too hard? I feel like people overthink shaving sometimes.

Hang on, your barber told you that? That's wild, mine swears by hot towels and says it changes the whole shave.
