My neighbor in Chicago said to use old coffee grounds for my basil, and it actually doubled the leaf size in a month.

I was skeptical because my balcony only gets four hours of sun, but mixing the grounds into the soil once a week gave me the biggest harvest I've ever had. Has anyone else tried this with other herbs like mint or oregano?

That's a great result with the basil. Did you rinse the used coffee grounds first, or just mix them in straight from the pot? I've heard that fresh, wet grounds can sometimes clump together and create a barrier in the soil.

Wow, that's a solid tip. I tried it with my rosemary and it seemed to perk right up, maybe because it likes the extra acid. Just make sure the grounds are dry so they mix in better.
