My buddy in Phoenix laughed when I said I couldn't grow peppers on my north-facing balcony
He told me he gets a full harvest every year by just using a cheap 20 dollar grow light for 4 extra hours a day. I always thought you needed a full sun spot or it was hopeless. Now my jalapeno plant is actually fruiting for the first time. Anyone else in a shady spot found a simple trick that actually works?

Is a grow light really that big of a deal? I see people online acting like they've solved world hunger because their basil didn't die. It's a lamp.

Your buddy laughing is the real pepper spray. We all get stuck on the "full sun or nothing" rule like it's a religion. My neighbor grew tomatoes in a closet with a shop light, and I was over here moving pots around like an idiot for years. Sometimes the cheap fix is the only fix.
